You Are So Angry by ~Astaris:iconAstaris:

You Are So Angry
Liz Speare

You are so angry.
Your pride was bruised, when I
Slipped out from under your nose.
When I hid where you eyes cannot see,
And your voice cannot touch.
You always felt so strong
When I stood before you, helpless.
I am helpless no more, and
You are so angry.
Do you see her, when you
Look into my face?
The woman that felt
She was to good for you.
She’s dead now, my mother,
And you hunted me down
To spite her, it seems.
The day she came back,
For me and her clothes,
You were so angry.
She’s gone now, and only
We remain, you and I.
You do not love me,
I don’t believe you know how.
Your pride was bruised, when I
Slipped out from under your nose.
Sooth your pride, they will
Ask you for me.
They will beg,
Not once demand.
Because they know,
That’s what you want.
You always feel so strong.
You are so angry.

Author's Comments

This is a poem about Lily’s father, who seems to be a very bitter and angry man. Near the end of the book, he finally tracked Lily down in order to bring her home. It seems he did it to sooth his own pride, rather than because he cared for her, as in the end, he leaves her with the Black Maddonas without so much as looking back.

Another poem for The Secret Life Of Bees, and another copied and pasted description of the poem. =] hurray! Enjoy =]
